What Is Salary Sacrifice?

Salary sacrifice, or salary packaging is an arrangement or agreement between an employee and their employer where you "sacrifice" part of your salary to cover the cost of goods associated with the work you do. One of the most common items sacrificed is a notebook/laptop computer, as it can be used as a work tool in most work environments.

The benefit of salary sacrifice is that because you sacrifice part of your salary for returned benefits you are only taxed on the remaining salary. For example if you are on a salary of $50,000 a year but spend $3,500 on a salary packaging deal then you will only be taxed on $46,500. A server is a computer, sometimes built to do very specific tasks, that is the centre of a local area network (LAN), and sometimes even in a wide area network (WAN). A server can be used for many purposes. Two popular uses would be to hold a database or a software suite that other computers (workstations/clients) access and to store the data from those workstations, and the other is to work as a gateway and security system to the outside world from the LAN. A server does not always have to be a super computer, or cost a fortune. It can sometimes just be a normal every day desktop PC, or sometimes even a notebook. There are many other uses for servers.

The name Workstation describes exactly what the system is. It is a station for doing work on. Work stations within a business are usually identical (to make updating/repairing/etc easier). They also do not have to be a specialised system. They could just be a standard work PC or Laptop that you would use every day at home. Workstations in a server run environment usually don't store their files on their own HDD (hard drive) but instead save the files remotely to the server for security and to keep the work stations running efficiently (not clogging up with information). A workstation does not necessarily need a server to run efficient. If you need computers in your work place then they are, simply, workstations. However in some areas a specifically designed workstation may be required. If this is the case we can tailor a solution based on your workplace requirements.

Is a server needed in my workplace?

A server within a workplace may never be required, or other time you may need one before the business is up and running. Usually a server is required if:

You need to share a centralised database/software suite between several computers.

Your business processes too much data to store and control on a normal workstation.

Extra security measures are needed when connecting to remote locations outside of the business. (E.G using the internet).

Access and restrictions for users within and outside of the LAN is needed and has to be controlled easily and efficiently.

Do I Need A Printing Solution?

Buying a printer can be simple. Walk into a store, find the right price/style printer you're after, and walk out with it (After paying, of course). Of course this can be the same if you're purchasing a $100 printer or a $1000 printer, however often times you may not realise that the printer sitting next to the one you purchased, for $60 more, would have saved you $500 on services and consumables per year. What Is A Duplicator Solution?

A CD/DVD Duplicator is a machine specifically designed to quickly and efficiently duplicate CD/DVD media. Most common duplicators use normal desktop CD/DVD Burners in quantiies usually from 2-10 and can copy spindles of media from 50-500. Duplicators are usually divided into two main categories: Automated Duplicators and Tower Copiers. The Automated Duplicators usually only have 2-4 CD/DVD burners but can also incorporate a printing system so the media can have labels printed onto them after being burnt. Tower Copiers are a much faster copying, however manual imput of the media into the drives is required. Because the Tower Copiers have upto 10 drives they can copy media at a very fast rate. Due to the limitation of automation they are also cheaper than Automatic Copiers, making them ideal for the user who may only be making 10-50 copies but need the copies done in a very short time frame. As Tower Copiers can also be purchased with only 2-4 drivers they can also be quite cheap and can also feature internal Hard Drives for media storage. Automatic Duplcators are better used in an environment where the time frame is larger but where the user would benefit more by leaving it to do its job of copying 50-500 discs without user imput.

When purchasing a duplicating system it is best to determine whether you would prefer a totally automated process or whetheryou would need things done quickly, or have only a few discs that need copying at a time.
